The Future
In the coming years, participatory video will become an integral feature of the camp
experience. In learning to operate the cameras and record their own videos, the
children build self-confidence while at the same time producing an authentic record
of their experience.

We also plan to expand the mentoring component of the project by recruiting more
high school students from the U.S. and from various communities in Romania. One of
our most important goals for C.O.P.I.I. is the participation of art therapists who
specialize in working with children. The teachers from the Special School are very
motivated to learn more about helping their students to express themselves creatively
and to build confidence. They are eager to work along side professionals from the U.S.
to be part of an exciting cultural exchange that would both enhance the camp
experience and enrich their teaching skills year round.

In the fall of 2003, C.O.P.I.I. collaborated with local art therapists from an organization
called IMPART to organize a training program in art therapies for the staff and
caretakers at the Beclean Special School. This was C.O.P.I.I.'s first program outside
of the summer camp and was enthusiastically received by over 35 staff members.
